Tom Schmiedel, Managing Director of Communications

Each person, each company has an identity. How one goes about managing this identity is the key to effective communication - this applies to both private and public organizations. One of Tom's favourite tasks is without doubt searching for identity everywhere he goes, examining every aspect of it, taking each form of it seriously, acknowledging its power and therefore being able to unravel its effect.

Tom Schmiedel is a Political Scientist and studied at the Free University Berlin specializing in Political Communication and Communication Theory. After working as an editor at Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) he was employed at the Federal Government Press and Information Office. During his time at both the department for Image Communication and the department of Audiovisual Media, Multimedia and the Internet, he was able to gain an insight into the working processes of ministerial public relations work and political communication. He was involved in selection strategies and was responsible for communication projects, both online and offline.

This was followed by freelance and permanent editorial activities including work for the Deutsche Welthungerhilfe and Süddeutsche Zeitung, amongst others. Tom Schmiedel then worked as a Conceptual Designer for DaimlerChrysler, and at the Identity Agency SchindlerParent in Berlin amongst others. At the beginning of 2003 Tom Schmiedel set up the agency NORDSONNE IDENTITY. Today, in his capacity as Managing Director of the agency, he is responsible for Communications.
