NORDSONNE IDENTITY & Evangelische Kirche Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz (EKBO)

The Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz Evangelical Church is confronted with unique challenges: unlike any other regional church, it unites the federal capital with the countryside, east and west as well as large and small towns. Consequently, its clientele is very diverse which means that communication is confronted with all kinds of challenges.

When the Berlin-Brandenburg (EKiBB) and schlesische Oberlausitz (EksOL) Regional Churches merged on January 1, 2004, the EKBO which emerged as a result called for bids as part of a corporate design competition. Six agencies from all over the Federal Republic participated in the multi-tiered pitch and presented their plans for a logo, printed and online media, and also campaign management. We won this competition in October 2004.

The tasks submitted by the EKBO were in fact similar to those of a company: the main concern is with attracting and retaining customers as well as strengthening and communicating one's own public profile. And it is also about heightening the public's awareness of the significant contribution of the church in society and the advocation of a christian co-existence.

These tasks reflect the challenge we are confronted with: by consciously deploying contemporary means of communication, the Church is in a position to cope with the increasing requirements of a media society.
