If two regional churches with a total of 1.3 million members merge, the process is the same as that for medium-sized companies: you inspect in detail, analyse in detail, deliberate, passionately discuss, are occasionally diplomatic and ultimately find solutions which can also be implemented as far as politics are concerned.
The corporate design of the EKBO that we developed is characterized by a fully revised color spectrum, a contemporary design principle and the use of a new logo. The three squares of the new brand have been derived from the cross design that we has been used up to now. They form the basic visual concept of the word-image brand and are arranged in such a manner that, when used with the lettering, they clearly symbolize the concise form of the cross. The three squares also symbolize the geographical remit of the EKBO and, as a visual metaphor, represent the three regions in which the regional church is active: Berlin, Brandenburg and schlesische Oberlausitz.
After the logo, the new color spectrum is one of the most important components of the new identity. It features two primary colors and various secondary colors. The violet color which is strongly illuminated has been chosen as the main colour as it is the traditional color of the Protestant Church. Besides violet, red as the second primary color is an integral part of the new logo.
